Honggu District

Honggu District is located in the outer suburb of Lanzhou City, is in the middle of Gansu Province, founded in 1960, due to the xiangtang gorge east of the Hongguchuan named, the geographical coordinates are the east longitude 102°50′-102°54′ and North 36°19′-36°21′. East of it is Xigu district, the west of it is the Datong River, the south of it is the Huangshui River, and is  adjacent to Qinghai Province Minhe Hui and Tu Autonomous County and Yongjing County , the north of it is Loess Mountains, and is adjacent to Yongdeng County. Honggu District is located in the geometric center of Lanzhou and Xining, the two major provincial cities.

In 2014, the total area of Honggu District is 567.66 square kilometers, with a total population of 150,000 people (2014), including 3 streets and 3 towns and 1 township. In 2014, Honggu District's GDP is 10.528 billion yuan, and is an increase of 15.5% over 2013.

The 109 National Road, Beijing-Tibet Expressway, Lanqing Railway, Lan aluminium railway line are throughout the Honggu District, it is the throat channel of mainland to Qinghai and Tibet, also the strategic channel connects to the Eurasian Continental Bridge. Honggu District Haishiwan Town is the hometown of Asia's first dinosaur-- Mamenchisaurus.
