The feeling for Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes of Chen Juzheng dates back to his learning experiences in youth. He has been working on art since 40 years ago. He started from copying the murals in Mogao Grottoes in 1980s when he was deeply attracted by this kind of Buddhism art and thought that this global treasury of arts was a place of every painter’s dream.

Chen Juzheng said, it is more difficult to paint on stone than on paper for you need to sketch the contours and adjust the colors again and again according to stone textures until it has a satisfactory effect. He also plans to expand and enrich the themes of his creation through adding innovative elements.
