"A city of books is a city of spirit." On April 23, the 25th World Book Day, Chengguan District's first "Chengguan Library-Intelligent Library" was officially open. Readers can read paper books, read e-books and borrow books on borrowing machines, and listen to audio books on borrowing machines or in the “capsule” here.
In recent years, the Chengguan District Party Committee and Government has implemented the decisions made by CPC Central Committee, the province and the city on building a powerful country through culture, vigorously promoted the construction of a "book-loving city", created a 10-minute cultural life circle in the city, perfected public reading facilities such as the city’s libraries, the intelligent libraries, peasants’ bookstores, physical bookstores and electronic reading systems, enhanced cultural services at the grass-root level, created a good reading atmosphere to attract more people into libraries, advocated the concept of reading more books, so as to promote people's spiritual strength.
By swiping the ID card, citizens can enter the "Chengguan Library-Intelligent Library". Then citizens finish face information collection through self-service book lending machines. After registration, citizens can read or borrow books. It makes many citizens who have come to the Intelligent Library for the first time surprised to borrow their loved books through such simple procedures. As a public welfare cultural project invested and built by the Chengguan District Government, this medium-sized Intelligent Library is bright and simple, providing a variety of services for the readers. This intelligent library is based on cloud platform and Internet+, allowing readers to read and borrow books free of charge by swiping their ID Cards or through face recognition with the RFID security access control system and self-service book borrowing and returning equipment.
In order to make it more convenient for citizens to read books and improve the efficient use of the library, the library is located in Lanzhou Public Park and by mid-January, its construction will be finished. There will be 5,000 paper books, 2 self-service book lending machines, 1 electronic book reading and lending machine, 1 audio book listening machine, 2 “capsules” for audio books listening, as well as desks and chairs and other supporting facilities. Readers can read digital newspaper and magazines for free, and borrow e-books and audio books. The library will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. The staff in the library will provide a variety of services for readers. The library will be equipped with a monitoring system. To read or borrow books in the library, children without ID Cards can register with their parent’s ID Card and finish face information collection through the book lending machine for children.
