More than 300 employees of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd and their family members dressed in uniforms printed with “China Construction” sat at the site in order, waiting for the event to begin. “Children are the future of our motherland and hope of nations…” At 10a.m., the event formally started with the lecture of Yang Shiping, who is a young lawyer. In light of current focuses and difficulties on left-behind children, Yang Shiping introduced background of rural left-behind children, protection of minors’ rights and interests as well as guardianship, fostering and protection of children’s rights and interests under the Civil Code from legal perspective, in order that left-behind children could learn how to protect themselves by laws and grow up well. The lawyer’s wonderful speech received a big round of applause. “Only after hearing today’s lecture have I realized that when children stay apart from their parents, they not merely lack care and love from their parents. What’s more, their mentality is seriously impacted. In the future, I will have to spend more time with my daughter,” sighed Zhang Yupeng, an employee of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd.
On the same day, the Department of Gansu Provincial Civil Affairs, Gansu Provincial Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs and Gansu Branch of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd allocated love packages such as stationery, water glasses and schoolbags to the left-behind children present. Thereafter, the left-behind children and their parents entered the VR experience hall of the construction site, to experience virtual reality and learn about fire safety skills on site.
On the morning of 27 August, 2020, the nationwide “100 lectures” for advocating caring and protecting rural left-behind children were given in the project base of Gansu Provincial Medical Complex for Women and Children.
It is said that these nationwide “100 lectures in construction sites” for advocating caring and protecting rural left-behind children are hosted by China State Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd under the guidance of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. The lectures are expected to be given in sites of 100 projects under construction of China State Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd in 31 provinces (including autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the control of the central government of China) from June to December. The 27th lecture was given in Gansu Province with a view to increase families’ awareness of guardianship and guide migrant workers to strengthen family communications with their left-behind children.
