On October 16, the 22nd “Fly to Beijing, Fly to the Space” Youth Science and Technology Sports + Aviation Model Education Competition of Gansu Province, the 21st “I Love the Motherland” Youth Science and Technology Nautical Model Education Competition of Gansu Province, and the 25th “Take Control of the Future” Youth Science and Technology Sports + Vehicle Model Education Competition of Gansu Province were held at No. 4 Middle School of Linze County.
“The sky is vast and let’s fly to it”. Aviation model making is a popular sport among young people. It is not only an independent competition, but also a comprehensive project integrating the popularization of science and technology and quality education. Making and flying the aviation models can not only allow participants to enjoy the fun of flying the model in the sky, but can also allow them to stay healthy, develop their intelligence, learn about teamwork, innovation and practice.
During the 4-day competition, more than 2500 coaches, athletes and referees from 229 teams from 14 cities and prefectures participated. The competition included 14 aviation and nautical model contests and 7 vehicle model contests which covered racing, sprint, round-robin, steeplechase, and dual meet.
On October 15th, 12 athletes from Tongwei Road Primary School went to Linze to participate in the competition under the leadership of school leaders and coaches.
After arriving in Linze, the coaches and teachers led the contestants to No. 4 Middle School of Linze County to familiarize themselves with the venue. The coaches and teachers explained carefully to avoid missing any detail. Later, the contestants rushed back to their homes to begin assembling and debugging the aviation models.
