On the morning of October 16th, activities of Lanzhou’s 40th “World Food Day” and “National Food Security Promotion Week” were launched at the Yellow River Scenic Spot, Waterside Square. The Municipal Food Bureau united the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Municipal Bureau of Education, the Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, Municipal All-China Women’s Federation and other departments to promote the World Food Day.
The theme of this year’s World Food Day is “Growing Together, Prospering Together, Sustaining Together, and Creating the Future with Action”. The theme of the National Food Security Promotion Week is “ensuring China’s food security and global food security”. Affected by the pandemic, multiple food exporting countries adopted a protective export ban, which has caused great impact to the global food supply chain, and many countries that are highly dependent on food imports suffered from a food shortage. The roadshow of the World Food Day aimed to arouse the public’s awareness of food loving and saving, so that citizens can consciously cherish food and save food.
During the roadshow that day, the Market Food Bureau released the 2020 “Red List” of Reliable Food Stores, and the high-profiled “Fangxin Selected” e-commerce platform was officially launched. Under the title of “Building the City with Integrity”, five reliable food stores were selected in the red list of 2020, including Lanzhou Yuzhong Fangxin Food Store (Military Supply Station), Wushan Road Fangxin Food Store, Tai Fangxin Food Store in Chengguan Town, Yongdeng County, Ningwozhuang Fangxin Food Store, and Fangxin Food Store and Yuxin Food Store in Shidong Town, Gaolan County. Eleven famous grain and oil purchase and sales companies including Lanzhou Chengguan Grain and Oil Purchase and Marketing Company held the boutique expo of famous and reliable grain and oil on the site, attracting many citizens. It is learned that more than 150 varieties of grains, oils and cooked foods were displayed and sold on site, and more than 5,000 promotional materials were distributed.
The reporter learned that from that day on, all districts, counties and related units in the city of Lanzhou will also organize knowledge competitions, collection of themed works, cloud classrooms, candid photo taking, and opening days to promote “Food Security Among the Public” around the theme of “ensuring China’s food security and global food security”.
