On August 24, the 2025 Lanzhou New Area Half Marathon started on the shore of Qixia Lake. 12,000 runners rushed out of the starting point to celebrate the 13th anniversary of Lanzhou New Area being approved as a national new area.

　　The Lanzhou New Area Half Marathon has been held for eight consecutive sessions and was awarded the "Gold Medal Event" of the Chinese Athletics Association in 2020. With the theme of "Hope New City, Outperform the Future", this event has two events: a half marathon (21.0975 kilometers) and a health run/family run (about 5 kilometers). During the competition, the organizers did a meticulous and thoughtful job in the service and guarantee of the event, creating a warm and pleasant running environment for all runners, which was highly praised by the majority of runners.
