We are the twelve treasures nurtured by the land of Lanzhou, and we are the poems of the customs and poems of the Loess Plateau. Time makes us grow, and years crown us. Just recently, 9 new partners such as Yuzhong cauliflower and Gaolan dry sand watermelon happily joined. So, here today, let's make a collective appearance that has never been done before.

Rooted in the blood of Jincheng and carrying the memory of water and soil, we have entered the dining table of thousands of households with fresh taste and mellow aroma, becoming the golden business card of rural revitalization in this land; We not only carry the unique flavor and temperature of Jincheng, but also pin on people's simple emotions and expectations; In this land connected to our bloodline, the sun is gilded for us, the Yellow River sings praises for us, we are not only the gift of nature, but also the storyteller of the story of Jincheng.

Now, let us tell you in detail about the life and glory that this land has given us, and I hope you can read our past and present lives in Lanzhou Daily.

Lanzhou winter fruit pear: "moisturizing lung fruit" with the same origin as medicine and food

I am Lanzhou winter fruit pear, produced in Qilihe District, Yongdeng County, Gaolan County and other places, my family has a history of cultivation in Lanzhou for hundreds of years, and is one of the famous "Eight Pears" in Longshang.

Every September, it is the time for me to mature and "go out", but don't worry, even in June of the following year, I can still keep the color and taste the same, and it is still as sweet as ever. People praise me for my bright colors and beautiful shape, which makes me very proud. I also have two forms: "large fruit" and "small fruit": the big winter fruit pear is full in shape, with an average weight of more than 300 grams, and the flesh is white and tender, sweet and sour; The small winter fruit pear is more delicate, although smaller, but the skin is thinner, the flesh is finer, and the taste is sweeter.

I am not just an ordinary fruit, but also a traditional medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that I have the effect of clearing the heart and lungs, moistening the throat and reducing phlegm. In the cold winter, Lanzhou people like to stew me into "hot winter fruit", add peppercorns, rock sugar and a variety of spices, and simmer it slowly. At that moment, the soup is ripe and sweet, the soup is rich, and a bowl is warm......

Over the years, I have not only entered the daily diet of thousands of households, but also become a star product of rural revitalization. For example, Kushui Street Village in Yongdeng County has transformed me into hot winter fruit, rose winter fruit, white fungus winter fruit, bird's nest winter fruit and lily winter fruit, which are produced through OEM in other factories, and the annual income of winter fruit pears in the village will be as high as 1 million yuan in 2024.

For thousands of years, I have come from an ancient pear tree, and now I have become an all-rounder who moistens the lungs, relieves coughs, and helps farmers increase their income. May you remember me - a thousand-year-old fruit that is sweet in the mouth and warm in the heart.

Yongdeng Seven Goats: The "Treasure of Sheep" running in the mountains and fields

I am the Seven Goats of Yongdeng, a "treasure among sheep" running on the Loess Plateau in Gansu Province.

My hometown is in Qishan Township, Yongdeng County, Lanzhou City, which belongs to a semi-arid mountainous area located at an altitude of about 2,000 meters, with ravines and alkali springs, and wild Chinese medicinal materials such as shallots, alkali firewood, wolfberry, and licorice growing. The unique geographical environment determines my strong climbing ability and large amount of exercise, and also achieves my fresh but not greasy, fragrant but not greasy, uniform fat and rich in nutrients. In winter, people often say, "If you eat sheep in winter, wear one less cotton coat", I have become the first choice for cold tonics.

My family has a long history. It is said that during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, Lu Tusi once paid tribute to Zhu Di, the ancestor of the Ming Dynasty, and the emperor was overjoyed after tasting it, praising it as "the first taste of mutton in the world", and ordered him to pay tribute every year. Since then, our seven goats have become famous all over the world and have become an indispensable delicacy in Gansu cuisine.

In Qishan Township, we are led by 12 professional cooperatives under the cultivation model of free-range + centralized fattening to drive farmers to breed together. At present, the number of stocks in the township has reached more than 100,000, with the help of my brand effect, Yongdeng County has gradually built an integrated economic belt of three industries, and has driven the sales of more than 800,000 catties of agricultural products such as dry sand watermelon, large apricot, and red millet in each village, and achieved an annual operating income of more than 1.2 million yuan.

Bitter water rose: the 200-year-old "rich peasant golden flower"

I am a bitter water rose from Bitter Water Town, Yongdeng County, Gansu Province. Every May, I wear a dark pink "silk skirt", with 18 to 24 fleshy and tender petals, decorated with dew droplets in the morning light, immersing the entire mountains and rivers in a rich aroma - yes, I am the "star flower" that makes the Qianlong version of "Gansu Tongzhi" can't help but record that "roses come from Lanzhou, and Bitter Water Town is the best".

My "family history" is more than 200 years old. According to legend, during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, a scholar named Wang Naixian brought me from Xi'an to Bitter Water, and since then, I have taken root here. The sunshine on the plateau made me particularly energetic, the red soil rich in selenium gave me enough nutrients, and the temperature difference between day and night allowed me to accumulate enough aroma, and slowly grew into a unique "Chinese bitter water multi-branched and semi-double-petaled red rose", and also became the flower of Lanzhou City!

What makes me even more proud is that I have a "national brand" ID card. In 2003, the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine issued me a certificate of "Product Protection in the Region of Origin"; In 2015, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs certified the geographical indication of agricultural products for me.

Now, the villagers in Yongdeng County regard me as a "rich flower" and have planted more than 100,000 acres, accounting for 40% of the country's rose planting area. At 5 o'clock in the morning, the flower farmers came to pick the buds I brought with the dew, saying that there was a lot of oil in this way; The automatic distillation kettle is non-stop day and night, turning me into essential oil and hydrosol; The scientific research team also helped me develop rose leaf tea and flower residue pigments, which are not wasted at all.

In Bitter Water Town in May, when I was at my most beautiful, the Danxia landform was matched with my sea of flowers, and tourists came to check in. At the Rose Festival, Taiping drums and stilt performances revolved around me, and the "Rose Day Tour" route stringed together the surrounding scenic spots, which could attract more than 200,000 people a year!

Anning White Phoenix Peach: "Rouge Peach" on the bank of the Yellow River

My name is Bai Fengtao, and I come from the fertile soil nourished by the Yellow River in Anning District, Lanzhou City. In the 60s of the last century, I stood out from 128 peach varieties and settled in Anning District.

My peel is pink and red, and the sugar content can soar to 22% when the flesh is the sweetest, which is sweeter than many fruits.

Over the years, I have lived up to everyone's expectations. In 2010, it had the exclusive trademark of "Anning Baifeng Peach", and later had the individual and collective honors of "China's Top Ten Famous Fruits" and "Hometown of Fresh Peaches", won the geographical indication of agricultural products in 2016, was selected into the "Ganwei" family in 2023, and in July this year, it was even more happy to mention the "National Geographical Indication Protected Product" certification. Every certificate is a stamp of recognition of my quality, and it also allows more people to know about the white phoenix peaches in Anning District.

In order to let me grow better and go further, Anning District has introduced more than a dozen peach tree varieties such as Chi Baifeng and Gangshan Bai, extended the picking period from July to September, and also held 19 technical training courses. In 2024, the "Ten Mile Peach Township" demonstration belt will be completed, 3,500 peach trees will be replanted, 5 kilometers of industrial roads will be opened, water pipelines will be laid, and the "home" where I grow will become more and more comfortable.

The "Peach King" competition in August every year is my "highlight moment". My friends and I compared sweetness and appearance, and the "Peach King" won can make the whole village proud. Now, I have also caught the express train of e-commerce, showing myself on Douyin and Kuaishou, and with cold chain logistics, whether you are in Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou, you can taste the freshness that has just been picked from the tree.

Lanzhou lily: the "sweet white jade" of the Loess Plateau

I grew up in the Eryin Mountains in the southern part of Qilihe District, Lanzhou City, where the altitude is 1,800 to 2,500 meters, the temperature difference between day and night is large, and the average annual temperature is 5.8 °C. The unique natural environment has created my characteristics of thick flesh, white color and extremely sweet taste, making me the only sweet lily with the same origin as medicine and food in the country.

In recent years, with the help of agricultural science and technology, the development of our lily family has ushered in a qualitative leap. This year, the "Lanzhou Lily Scale Cuttings New Technology for Fast Propagation" developed by the Qilihe District Agricultural Technology Extension Center has made a new breakthrough, shortening the cultivation cycle of seed bulbs from three years to two years, and then compressing the total growth life from six years to five years through greenhouse cultivation. This technology has made the monopoly rate of commercial bulbs reach more than 60%, the rate of high-quality lilies has reached more than 80%, and the yield per mu has increased to 2,000 to 2,500 kg.

Today, my value has been improved in all aspects. In a number of lily professional cooperatives in Qilihe District, workers carefully processed my scales into lily soup, lily coffee, cleanser, moisturizing mask and other products, which sold well in Jiangsu, Guangzhou and other places. We have changed from selling by pound in the past to selling according to the effect now, and the added value has been greatly improved.

In 2024, our family's planting area in Lanzhou will reach 155,000 mu, of which 55,400 mu will be planted in Qilihe District, with an output of 32,800 tons and an output value of 980 million yuan. There are 150 registered enterprises engaged in lily processing in Qilihe District, with an annual export volume of about 108 tons, an export earning of more than 1.4 million US dollars, and its products are exported to more than 20 countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.

As a national geographical indication product, I am working hard to drive farmers to increase their income and help rural revitalization. This sweet career makes my lily of the Loess Plateau bloom more brilliantly.

Yuzhong lotus greens: sweet and crisp "emerald cabbage"

I am a lotus vegetable from Yuzhong County, also known as cabbage. My family has been rooted here for more than 400 years, and there is a record of me in the "Lintao Mansion Chronicle" of the Ming Dynasty.

I am blessed with a unique growth environment, the plateau climate gives me sufficient sunshine and the temperature difference between day and night, and the weakly alkaline limestone soil is rich in organic matter and a variety of minerals, allowing me to accumulate more vitamins C, E and dietary fiber. From seedling breeding in February to harvesting in September, farmers used the scientific planting method of seedling cultivation in the substrate of hole tray, mulching film covering and formula fertilization throughout the process, so that the compactness of my leaf ball reached more than 94%.

In order to maintain the best condition, I was harvested in time during the harvest period and was able to enter the fresh-keeping warehouse in Dingyuan Town within 24 hours. Today, I not only go to more than 60 cities such as Guangzhou and Shanghai through 30 fresh-keeping companies, but also take the cold chain network of Dingdong to reach the tables in Beijing and Shenzhen within 48 hours.

With the empowerment of science and technology, my family continues to upgrade. Yuzhong County has introduced and promoted more than 10 cabbage varieties, and established 5 new cabbage variety introduction, testing and demonstration bases. Agricultural experts also tailored comprehensive pest control plans for me, and measures such as sticky insect yellow board, solar insecticidal lamp, and full-film three-ridge cultivation technology have better improved my quality.

Today, I have become the golden business card of agriculture in Yuzhong County. With a planting area of 30,000 mu and an annual output of 135,000 tons, it also drives related industries such as packaging and logistics. From the traditional vegetable garden on the banks of the Wanchuan River to the high-end supermarkets in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, I have always adhered to the sweet taste given by the plateau, and used every leaf to tell the perfect integration of 400 years of farming wisdom and modern industry.

Gaolan dry sand watermelon: a juicy and sweet "summer artifact"

I am a dry sand watermelon from Gaolan County, which is the melon with thin skin and few seeds, bright red flesh, juicy and sweet flavor. Recently, I have been so happy because I have been approved as a national geographical indication protected product. Since then, I have been a melon with a "national brand" identity certification.

My birth has to start from the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, nearly 400 years ago. At that time, there was a severe drought in Gansu, and the people of Gaolan invented the paving sand field in order to fight the drought. As a result, everyone followed suit and gradually promoted the paving sand field. Since then, I have taken root in this sand field.

Gaolan County has a temperate continental climate, with four distinct seasons and a large temperature difference between day and night, which allows me to accumulate a lot of sugar. Coupled with the magical sand field (laying a layer of gravel 10 to 15 cm thick), it is like covering me with a "smart thermal insulation and moisturizing quilt" to reduce evaporation, increase ground temperature, maintain fertility, and inhibit salinity...... Let me grow up with peace of mind and be sweeter. Shichuan, Shidong, Shuifu and other towns are all my hometowns, and it is the water and soil of my hometown that have raised me with high quality, and I have been famous in Lanzhou and even Gansu Province for a long time.

My fruit is full of nutrients, a bite, sweet and cool, the heat disappears, it is an absolute "summer artifact" in midsummer.

In order to ensure my quality, there is a set of strict technical specifications from land selection, sand laying, fertilization to planting, management and harvesting. 15 days before harvesting, never spray; The sand field needs to be renovated every 15 to 20 years to avoid sand and petrification compaction; The double vine pruning method is adopted, leaving only one melon per plant to ensure the concentration of nutrients; There is even a unique maturity appraisal method for calculating, watching, listening, and testing!

Today, the planting area of Gaolan dry sand watermelon has reached about 30,000 mu, accounting for more than 80% of the total output of Lanzhou City. It is not only well-known in the local area, but also exported to Beijing, Tianjin, the Yangtze River Delta and other places, and is deeply loved by consumers. Everyone has also explored characteristic models such as "watermelon interplanting peanuts", which has made my industrial development road wider and wider.

Gaolan Heshangtou Wheat: 500-year-old "famous wheat products"

I am a grain of Heshangtou wheat from Gaolan, Gansu Province.

You may ask, why am I so special? Our He Shangtou family has lived in the land of Gaolan for more than 500 years. Since the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, it has taken root here and witnessed the lives of generations of Gaolan people. The "Lanzhou City Chronicle and Agricultural Chronicle" records that the history of wheat planting in Lanzhou is 5,000 years.

I was able to thrive in this land because of its unique environment. The soil here is rich in minerals and fertile, coupled with the sand fields invented by the hardworking and wise Gaolan people, providing me with excellent growing conditions. The sand field is like my super umbrella, which can not only reduce water evaporation to help me fight drought, but also absorb sunlight to give me warmth, and maintain soil fertility!

I am not ordinary, I have super high appearance and strength. My flour whiteness is 74.81%, crude protein content ≥ 14.0g/100g, crude fiber ≥2.2g/100g, starch ≥64.0g/100g. In particular, the amino acid content is particularly high, with a total ≥ of 13.0 g/100 g. Compared to other wheat varieties, I have 4 to 5 percentage points more gluten. The flour I made is slightly yellow, the powder is as delicate as sand, there is little fiber, it is easy to digest and absorb, the taste is smooth and refreshing, the gluten is super strong, and the pot is not rotten.

Now, our family is getting stronger and stronger! It has settled in 34 administrative villages in Zhonghe Town, Shidong Township, Shuifu Township, Heishi Chuan Township and other townships in Gaolan County, with a planting scale of 18,000 mu and an annual output of 1,980 tons. There are 5 processing enterprises in Gaolan County, and everyone works together to turn me into a variety of delicious foods and deliver them to consumers.

Gaolan soft pear: "Honey pear" in the middle of winter

My name is Ruan'er Pear, and it is a national geographical indication product from Gaolan County with a century-old fireworks.

My hometown of Gaolan County is the location of "the world's first ancient pear orchard". I remember that in the "Reconstruction of Gaolan County Chronicle" during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, it was written that I "hid until late winter and early spring, and the flesh became pulp, sweet as honey", and even Mr. Yu Youren wrote a poem for me: "Don't say that grapes are the most sweet, and the ice and snow are soft pears".

Don't look at the green and yellow and sour when I first picked it, after the two processes of "sweating" and "cellaring", it will transform after more than 40 days - the skin is brown and shiny, and the flesh turns into honey-like pulp. I have to be particular about eating in the cold winter: I have to let me "take a bath" in cold water first, wait for the surface to form thin ice, bite open the ice shell and take a sip, and the cool and sweet juice slides into the throat, whether it is to relieve greasy, sober up, or moisten the throat and relieve cough, it is particularly effective. Li Shizhen also said in the "Compendium of Materia Medica" that I can "moisten the lungs and cool the heart" and be a proper "little expert in dietary therapy"!

Nowadays, my family is getting more and more prosperous! With the help of cold chain technology, I have changed from "winter only" to a delicious food that can be eaten all year round, and my value can increase 10 times in summer. I also caught the fast lane of e-commerce to get rich, and it was exported all over the country. Deep-processed products such as yogurt and pear juice have turned me into a "cross-border star". The villagers all said that I became a "sweet spot" to get rich.

By the way, our pear garden also has an exclusive "ID card": 9,082 century-old trees are listed for protection, and one tree and one card are tracked and managed. Globally Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage, Geographical Indication Certificate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Special Award for "Ganwei" Regional Brand...... Behind these honors is the ancient maintenance of scraping bark, spreading sand and controlling insects, and the scientific and technological blessing of modern ecological planting. From the old branches of the ancient pear orchard to the sweet taste in everyone's hands, I bring the terroir and ingenuity of Gaolan County to send the sweetness of the cold winter in the northwest to the tip of more people's tongues.

Gaolan red sand potato: the "star potato" of the whole body

I am a round, yellow Gaolan red sand potato. Recently, I received a super surprise - successfully approved as a national geographical indication protection product. It's like sending me a super powerful "ID card", and I will be able to go to the whole country more confidently in the future.

During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty (1662-1722), Gansu was in a severe drought and barren land for thousands of miles, and a smart old farmer accidentally found a strong seedling in front of a rat hole covered with sand and gravel, and was inspired by it, so he invented the planting method of paving the sand field. There is a local folk song as evidence: "If you want to ask about the old source of the sand field, you have to talk about the Kangxi year." Since then, our family has taken root in this red sand land.

I am high in starch and crude protein, and rich in trace elements such as iron and zinc, which is rich in nutrients. In 1999, I was rated as a first-class product by the Shaanxi Yangling Agricultural Products Appraisal Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and won the title of "Star Brand Red Sand Potato". Not only that, I have also been processed into various delicacies: snow powder, potato chips, puffed food, vermicelli, vermicelli, etc., and even my scraps can be comprehensively used to produce feed yeast, high-efficiency liquid fertilizer, etc., it can be said that my whole body is a treasure.

Today, the planting area of red sand potatoes in Gaolan County exceeds 51,000 mu, with an annual output of more than 120,000 tons. I am not only selling well in Lanzhou and silver markets, but also exported to Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Shanghai, Fujian and other provinces, autonomous regions and cities, and some first-class products have also gone abroad and exported to Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Russia and other places!

Yuzhong cauliflower: the "delicious delicacy" of plateau summer vegetables

I am Yuzhong cauliflower, which has grown on the land of Yuzhong County for more than 70 years, and is the leading variety of vegetable planting in the county, rooted in 14 townships such as Laizibao, Heping, Dingyuan, and Triangle City, where the climate is cool, the sunlight is sufficient, and the soil is deep.

My family has a long history, but it has never stopped at its own. In recent years, Yuzhong County has introduced more than 30 excellent varieties such as Paris Snow, Taibai, Xuefei, and Maria, and has also built 5 new variety introduction, testing and demonstration bases, so that I can find the most suitable growth form in different plots. In recent years, the promotion of practical technologies such as comprehensive pest control, formula fertilization, and full-film three-ridge cultivation of dry farming green vegetables has helped me break through the limitations of growth - not only the planting area has been expanded, but the high-quality harvest rate has also been significantly improved. Today, the county's cultivation area has reached more than 120,000 acres, the annual output has stabilized at 300,000 tons, and 41,000 farmers have increased their income by planting me.

As the main variety of Lanzhou plateau summer vegetables, my footprint has covered more than 80 markets in more than 20 provinces and cities across the country, and has also entered Southeast Asian countries, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, becoming a "safe and delicious" on consumers' tables. Now I also have my own ideal, that is, to continue to contribute to the construction of geographical indication brands and inject vitality into regional agricultural development.

Yuzhong Chinese cabbage: the "king of vegetables" listed at staggered peaks

I am a Chinese cabbage from Yuzhong, and people often praise me as the "king of vegetables".

The soil we grow in is rich in organic matter and has a balanced content of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and it is these natural gifts that allow me to accumulate rich protein, vitamins and minerals, especially high in crude fiber, which is nutritious and healthy.

My family mainly has varieties such as Wangchun, Chunyu Huang, Advantage, Tokyo Golden Boy, Beibei, and Gao Yuan Xiu. We sow in April, harvest in July, rotate crops in spring and autumn, use high-ridge mulch film covering and cultivation, precise fertilization, and scientific irrigation. The farmers strictly follow the pollution-free standard, so that I can maintain pure and natural quality from seedling stage to maturity.

When my leaf balls are firm and their appearance is green and shiny, it is the best harvest time. At this time, the weight of the flower ball is usually more than 1 kg. After harvesting, I will be quickly sent to the fresh-keeping warehouse and kept fresh for 10 hours to go to the market.

Today, I not only supply to more than 80 cities across the country, but also export to Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and other countries, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan. With an annual output of 100,000 tons, cascade sowing, staggered peak listing, I will always accompany you from May to November. (Lanzhou Daily all-media reporter Zhou Dongnan Peng Meijiao)
