"If you find someone who has a foreign object in their airway and cannot breathe, please immediately use the Heimlich maneuver to give first aid!"
"Lean forward, straighten your arms, and pay attention to the rhythm when pressing, 01, 02..."
Recently, at Lanzhou West Railway Station, a special "street stall" - the Red Cross "first-aid street stall" - has attracted citizens and passengers to stop and take a look.
"First-aid stall" is an emergency rescue training activity carefully planned during the Spring Festival travel rush by the Provincial Red Cross Society in conjunction with China Railway Lanzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd. and Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport Co., Ltd. It allows passengers and staff to learn and master the correct response and handling methods for sudden situations that may be encountered during travel, such as cardiac arrest and airway foreign body obstruction, during the intervals of waiting for flights or trains.
At the event site, the emergency rescue instructors from the Provincial Red Cross Society, using a combination of theory and practical operation, explained in plain and understandable language the steps of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the operation of AED use in detail to passengers and staff.
Taking into account the large passenger flow during the Spring Festival travel rush and the limited training time, the emergency rescue instructors from the Provincial Red Cross Society optimized the training methods. They explained while demonstrating, and promptly corrected incorrect actions during everyone's practical operations, helping everyone quickly master emergency rescue methods in a short period of time.

"When theoretical explanations and practical demonstrations are conducted simultaneously, it's easier for everyone to understand," Fang Li, an emergency rescue trainer from the Provincial Red Cross Society, told reporters. Volunteers also formed small teams to go deep into passenger-dense areas to give explanations and demonstrations, so that passengers who are far from ticket gates and boarding gates can also learn emergency rescue knowledge. At the same time, combining with the characteristics of winter health in Gansu, emergency rescue trainers also popularized knowledge such as the prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in low temperatures, protection against low-temperature scalds, and prevention of respiratory infectious diseases.
The reporter noticed that there was a game board with emergency rescue operation steps at the scene. By participating in the game, passengers could easily learn emergency rescue knowledge. This vivid, practical, and entertaining interactive teaching attracted many children to come forward and experience it.
Passenger Ms. Shen, along with her child, learned emergency rescue knowledge. Ms. Shen said that she once fainted due to hypoglycemia and was fortunate to be rescued by others, so she deeply understands the importance of first aid. "I didn't expect to be able to learn first aid knowledge while waiting for the bus. The 'first aid stall' is very meaningful," said Ms. Shen.
It is reported that during this year's Spring Festival travel rush, the Provincial Red Cross Society will carry out 16 "first-aid stall" activities at Lanzhou West Railway Station and Terminal T3 of Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport, which will last until February 10th. This will enable the majority of passengers to learn and master first-aid knowledge more conveniently during their journey back home, providing protection for lives.
