Lanzhou China Network, February 26th - In order to create a safe and orderly environment around campuses for teachers and students, the Lanzhou Urban Management Committee has taken proactive actions and made overall arrangements. It has carried out comprehensive environmental protection actions around campuses with a model combining "special rectification and regular management" to safeguard the "safe school road" for teachers and students.
On the afternoon of February 26, staff members in uniforms were stationed at fixed points at the entrances and exits of Yizhichuan Primary School, conducting patrols and control, and promptly dissuading various irregular behaviors. Sanitation workers, holding cleaning tools, carried out continuous patrols and cleaning, meticulously sweeping the roads and sidewalks. The roads around the campus were clean and tidy, non-motorized vehicles were parked in an orderly manner, and there were no phenomena such as street vendors occupying roads or random piles of items.
It is understood that since the start of the new academic year, the city’s urban management system has closely monitored prominent issues such as encroachment on roads by vendors around schools and indiscriminate littering. Law enforcement forces from various counties and districts have been mobilized to tackle these problems intensively. At the same time, the environmental sanitation department has been urged to enhance road cleaning, garbage collection, and maintenance of public restrooms. A joint campaign has been launched by multiple departments to conduct a special crackdown on the environmental conditions around schools during the academic term. Han Xiquing, a member of the Donggang West Road Street Comprehensive Law Enforcement Team, stated, “Starting on February 25, the Donggang West Road Street comprehensive law enforcement team has focused on addressing issues such as street vendors and unauthorized encroachment on roads around schools, regulating the parking of non-motorized vehicles, rigorously investigating instances of improper parking, strictly controlling noise pollution from nearby construction activities, and, in response to critical and difficult issues, coordinating with relevant departments to conduct joint clean-up efforts aimed at creating a clean and comfortable environment around schools.”
Wang Yu, an employee of Chengyu Company under Chengguan Sanitation in Gansu, said, "Sanitation workers take the 200-meter radius around the campus as the core control area, implementing the operation mode of 'manual general cleaning + mechanical flushing + patrol cleaning'. They work more than 18 hours a day and have cleaned up a total of 65 tons of garbage."
Next, the Lanzhou Urban Management Committee will deepen the three-level linkage between the city, districts and streets as well as the collaborative cooperation among departments, focus on key links such as appearance order, environmental sanitation, traffic access, and safety guarantee, and make every effort to create a good environment around campuses.
