General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that we should coordinate the advancement of landmark major projects and small yet beautiful livelihood initiatives. All regions across our province have focused on key areas including infrastructure improvement, industrial upgrading and better livelihoods, continuously pushed forward the construction of key projects, and injected a steady stream of fresh vitality into economic growth.
The construction of major provincial-level projects is being fully accelerated. The Huangcheng Pumped Storage Power Station in Gansu is the first pumped storage power station in our province to receive approval, with a total installed capacity of 1,400 megawatts. All its generating units are scheduled to be put into operation by 2030. Upon completion, the project will deliver 1.637 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually. At present, 17 tunnels and caverns have been successfully excavated through. Workers are closely following construction schedules, strictly controlling project quality, and making every effort to speed up construction work.
As a key transportation project of Gansu Province, the construction of the section from the Zhangye-Jiuquan boundary to Mazongshan of the S10 Zhangye-Mazongshan Expressway is being advanced at full speed across the entire line. With a total length of 363.5 kilometers, this expressway ranks first in Gansu Province in terms of both the one-time construction mileage and the mileage passing through uninhabited Gobi desert areas. It also serves as a pivotal hub project that fills the gaps in the road network in the northern Hexi Corridor and unblocks the northwest gateway for opening-up. Confronted with the complex geological conditions and harsh natural environment of the Gobi desert, the construction team has adopted targeted strategies and carried out scientific construction to fully guarantee the project quality and construction schedule.
Major projects serve as the ballast stone for economic growth. At the construction site of the AIMA Lanzhou New Area Industrial Park project, tower cranes stand tall and machinery roars, presenting a bustling and vigorous construction scene. With a total investment of 2 billion yuan and a land area of 824 mu, all 32 single buildings of this project have been fully completed, and interior decoration as well as the installation and commissioning of Phase I equipment are being advanced in full swing.
At present, the construction of multiple key livelihood projects in Lanzhou City has hit the fast track. The Phase I West Zone project of the resettlement community for the reconstruction of Kongjiaya Subdistrict (urban village) in Anning District, Lanzhou City has entered the final stage of construction. A total of 1,204 resettlement housing units are being built, covering a total land area of approximately 66.9 mu.
At the construction site of the High School Department of Lanzhou Branch of Beijing No.8 High School, all construction operations are being carried out intensively and in an orderly manner. The total construction area of the project is approximately 41,900 square meters, and the main structure of the teaching building is scheduled to be topped out by the end of August this year.
From new energy storage projects and key transportation projects to manufacturing upgrading projects and people's livelihood security projects, Gansu is taking major projects as the starting point. The progress of project construction underpins steady economic growth. A host of major projects are being accelerated for implementation, laying a solid foundation for stable and sound economic development.
