Lanzhou China Network, June 16 Report: On June 16, the Lanzhou Urban Management Committee, together with the government of Xiguoyuan Town, Qilihe District, held the 2026 "Work Safety Month" series of activities and the observation meeting of comprehensive emergency plan drills at the kitchen waste resource treatment plant.

Centering on the theme "Everyone Prioritizes Safety, Everyone Responds to Emergencies – Identify and Rectify Hidden Risks", this activity targeted the key safety risks in the kitchen waste disposal industry and verified the effectiveness of emergency plans through practical drills. Tailored to the operational characteristics of the industry, the drill consisted of two major sessions: a special biogas leakage drill and a comprehensive emergency drill, which highly reproduced scenarios of sudden safety accidents in the plant. The drill simulated emergencies such as biogas leakage and gas diffusion in the operation area. Following standardized emergency response protocols strictly, all participants efficiently completed a full set of standardized operations including source cutoff control, ventilation and gas dissipation, leak blocking and repair, and hidden danger rechecking. Unplanned sudden scenarios such as equipment malfunctions and unexpected hazards were randomly added on site to comprehensively test staff's on-site emergency response, risk prediction and multi-party coordinated operation capabilities. After the drill, participants conducted an on-site review and evaluation to sort out weak links in emergency handling, refine rectification and improvement measures, and further enhance the practicability and operability of the emergency response plan.

The 4th "Hundred Participants, Hundred Questions" Safety Knowledge Quiz with Prizes was held concurrently during the event. The question bank covers core job-related content including work safety rules and regulations, hidden danger investigation and rectification, fire safety, equipment operation specifications, emergency self-rescue and mutual rescue. This fun prize-based activity effectively boosted all staff's willingness to participate, allowing participants to fill knowledge gaps and consolidate their theoretical foundation of safety through immersive learning. Industry experts in work safety were specially invited to provide on-site consultation and answer questions. Targeting difficult and key issues encountered in daily operations such as post risk identification, hidden danger investigation skills, compliant operation standards and detailed emergency response procedures, the experts delivered face-to-face professional explanations and guidance combined with typical cases. This precisely eliminated blind spots in work safety management and offered solid technical support for standardized and standardized operations.

This series of activities has yielded multiple outcomes including practical training, knowledge popularization and professional empowerment, further improved the emergency management system, and honed the emergency response capabilities of practitioners. Going forward, the Lanzhou Urban Management Commission will focus on key areas such as sanitation operations, waste disposal and outdoor advertising facilities, carry out regular safety education, emergency drills as well as hidden danger investigation and rectification, continuously improve the long-term safety management mechanism, foster a sound atmosphere where all staff abide by safety rules and everyone safeguards safety, and fully guarantee the safe and stable operation of urban management sectors.
