On June 23, reporters learned from the Lanzhou Forestry and Grassland Bureau that in the first half of this year, the bureau focused on the strategy of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, adhering to the "three greens" of expanding, protecting, and promoting greenery, coordinating the advancement of the "Three Norths" project, the "Green Filling Longyuan" campaign, greening of the northern and southern mountains, and the construction of "Garden Lanzhou," achieving phased results in key tasks.
The "Three Norths" project accelerates efforts and achieves major breakthroughs in basin governance
In the first half of the year, the city completed the construction of 205,400 mu of the sixth phase of the "Three-North" project, including 116,400 mu of afforestation and 89,000 mu of grassland ecological restoration, and supplemented and replanted 85,000 mu of plots that did not meet standards last year. Successfully secured approval for seven whole-basin management projects including Huangshui River, Zhuanglang River, Caijia River, and Wanchuan River, with a total scale of 2.1446 million mu and a total investment of 2.305 billion yuan; the first batch of five projects (with a construction target of 1.24966 million mu) has received 1.069 billion yuan in central government investment and is currently progressing in an orderly manner. Relying on the "1+6+3" project management and area-specific responsibility mechanism, the integrated afforestation technology for the "Six Ones" semi-arid areas is fully promoted, providing solid support for high-quality project implementation.
"Garden Lanzhou" improves quality and greenery; actual green space rate among citizens reaches 41.37%
So far, 30 urban green parks serving the people have started construction, and 9 parks, including Yantan National Fitness Center Park, have been completed and opened. Focusing on key blocks, park green spaces, Yellow River scenic lines, and the two mountain-facing areas, 1,665 street trees were replanted and planted; 670,000 seedlings and 100,000 square meters of small shrubs and ground cover were planted in landscaping green space; 73.24 hectares of urban green space were newly renovated (14 hectares added, 59.24 hectares renovated). Planted 15,800 high-quality seedlings such as Chinese scholar tree, crabapple, and lilac, and over 60,000 local specialty roses, creating eight premium garden streets including Tianshui Shui Road.
Meanwhile, our city continues to promote the construction of pocket parks and the improvement of urban green spaces, enhancing planning inspection indicators. The actual green space rate for citizens has reached 41.37%, the green coverage rate is 42.61%, and the service radius coverage rate for park greening activities has reached 85.32%.
Deepening greening of the two mountains, the first ecological corridor at the provincial gate continues to be improved
Provincial and municipal units have provided targeted support for greening the northern and southern mountains, completing 4,044 mu of new afforestation, restoration of 4,671 mu of degraded forest, and renovation of 7,531 mu of water conservancy facilities, with a total of 548,000 seedlings planted. Afforestation along the airport expressway and central corridor has achieved remarkable results. Phase I of the "Provincial Gate First Road" water conservancy infrastructure supporting maintenance and renovation (EPC+O) project has built one new floating boat pump station, updated twelve pump stations, and renovated 66.28 kilometers of pipelines, effectively ensuring irrigation water for the two mountains. Meanwhile, the ten major forest parks have completed ecological restoration covering 1,415 mu, and the Shifogou tourist boardwalk and Xigu Nanshan landscape development are progressing in an orderly manner, achieving both ecological capacity and landscape enhancement.
Strengthening the management and protection of new afforestation, firmly guarding the bottom line of resource security
In the first half of the year, 3,299 forest chiefs across the city patrolled 33,500 forests and issued chief orders to strengthen new afforestation management. During the fire prevention period, 13,989 checkpoints were set up, over 53,000 vehicles and 181,000 personnel were inspected, achieving zero fires in forests and grasslands. Regular monitoring and control of pine needle disease, aphids, and other pests and diseases have not occurred, with no large-scale outbreaks. Completed 27 municipal-level review of forest and grassland occupation matters, rescued and restored 24 ancient trees, and achieved a rectification rate of 82.3% of issues reported from property community greening patrols. Wild animals and plants from 17 species and 43 individuals have been rescued and released, with the "Qingfeng Operation 2026" and wetland protection advancing simultaneously.
Ecological value transformation takes the lead: In the first half of the year, the under-forest economic output value reached 112 million yuan
On May 19, our city successfully opened a joint account on the National Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Registration System and Trading System, published project announcements, selected 360,000 mu of forest land for development, and completed the signing of transfer agreements for more than 12,000 farming households. In the first half of the year, the economic output value under the forest reached 112 million yuan, with 39 real estate ownership certificates and 382 income rights certificates issued, and the reform of the collective forest rights system steadily deepened. Secured 1.18568 billion yuan in funds from the higher authorities, injecting strong momentum into ecological construction.
Vigorously promote nationwide voluntary tree planting to build ecological, livable, and green villages
In the first half of the year, Lanzhou vigorously promoted nationwide voluntary tree planting, organizing provincial, municipal, and district party, government, and military volunteer tree planting activities, with over 3,690 participants and 14,400 seedlings planted. A total of 180 public activities were held on the National Voluntary Tree Planting Network, completing 129 events, with a cumulative equivalent of 1.3 million trees planted.
At the same time, the "Green Fills Longyuan · Ten Thousand Trees in Every Village" initiative is being solidly advanced. Completed the planning and design of 12 central villages in the rural revitalization demonstration belt, conducted six sessions of seedling planting and maintenance technical training with over 400 participants, planted 700,000 seedlings in the first half of the year, built six rural "mini park" demonstration sites in Yuzhong and Yongdeng, and built ecological, livable, green and beautiful villages.
