The "Heroic Epic, Immortal Monument" Red Army Long March themed exhibition opened at the Eighth Route Army Lanzhou Office Memorial Hall

  2026 marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the Red Army's victory in the Long March. To continue the red bloodline and promote the great Long March spirit, the "Immortal Monument of Heroic Epic—Red Army Long March Themed Exhibition" officially opened on June 25 at the Eighth Route Army Lanzhou Office Memorial Hall.

  Leaders from the Gansu Provincial Archives, Lanzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Party History Office of the Lanzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Red Army Long March Xiangjiang Campaign Memorial Hall, Gansu Sumusu Diary Archive, Xiamen Digital Soundscape Art and Technology Research Institute, as well as representatives of descendants of the Red Army in Lanzhou, were invited to attend; More than 100 people, including officers and soldiers of Unit 93811, members of various social organizations, and staff from the memorial hall, participated in the ceremony.

  This exhibition centers on the Long March journey, focusing on important battles, major historical events, and important figures. It brings together a wealth of precious documents and revolutionary artifacts from the Gansu Provincial Archives, the Red Army Long March Xiangjiang Campaign Memorial Hall, and the Eighth Route Army Lanzhou Office Memorial Hall. The exhibition features 266 precious historical photos, 7 themed oil paintings, 12 revolutionary relics, 9 scene replicas, and 40 books related to the Long March, complementing each other with illustrated historical materials, artistic creations, and physical exhibits. It authentically recreates the arduous and extraordinary struggle of the Red Army's Long March, vividly recreates the noble revolutionary character of revolutionary predecessors who faced hardship, is steadfast, and loyally responsible. It comprehensively and from multiple perspectives deeply interprets the rich connotations and contemporary value of the Great Long March spirit, vividly showcasing the heroic deeds of Red Army soldiers whose "revolutionary ideals are higher than the sky."

  At the opening ceremony, a special volunteer guide—"Xinhuo"—a robot guide from the School of Artificial Intelligence at Lanzhou Vocational and Technical College—made his official debut and took on the task of explaining on the first day. This is the first time the Lanzhou Red Venue has used intelligent robots as guides, representing a proactive exploration of the deep integration of red culture and artificial intelligence. This initiative actively responds to the National Cultural Heritage Administration's call to expand the educational function of Long March relics and improve the level of storytelling of Long March relics, empowering red culture with technology and bringing history to life.

  After the ceremony, the attending guests and the first group of visitors entered in an orderly manner, immersing themselves in those magnificent and remarkable years under the guidance of 'Torch' explanations. "This themed exhibition centers on the spirit of the Long March, and through five sections—strategic transfer, embarking on a journey, fighting fiercely at the Xiang River to break through encirclement, revolutionary ideals lofting above the sky, the Red Army's Long March in Gansu, and embarking on a new Long March road—it fully returns to that magnificent and majestic heroic epic, deeply appreciating the contemporary connotations of the great Long March spirit." Guide Wei Libin introduced this in an interview.

  On the day of the event, the Eighth Route Army Lanzhou Office Memorial Hall specially invited Zhou Yunliang, director of the Long March Xiangjiang Campaign Memorial Hall, to give a special lecture titled "Drawing Strength for Progress in the New Era from the Xiangjiang Campaign."

  During the exhibition, a series of themed activities such as grassroots tours will be held to bring the Long March spirit to the people, promoting in-depth revolutionary tradition education and patriotic education.

  This exhibition is jointly organized by the Lanzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Gansu Provincial Archives, and the Red Army Long March Xiangjiang Campaign Memorial Hall, and organized by the Eighth Route Army Lanzhou Office Memorial Hall. It is an important measure by Gansu Province to implement the National Cultural Heritage Administration's overall deployment for the protection and display of Long March cultural relics. According to the National Cultural Heritage Administration's work arrangements for jointly hosting the Long March Cultural Relics Protection and Exhibition Themed Activity Season, Lanzhou actively responded by showcasing the great significance of the Red Army's Long March in the history of the Party, country, and military development through the themed exhibition, constructing an exhibition matrix commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Red Army's victory.
